Following the revelation of Mother Divine as Śrī-Mātā (The Sacred Mother), the Lalitā Sahasranāma presents Her second holy name: Śrī-Mahārājñī (श्रीमहाराज्ञी).
She who nurtures all creation with a mother’s tenderness also governs the cosmos with supreme order, authority, and divine law (Ṛta).
1. Linguistic & Vedāntic Breakdown
- Śrī (श्री): Auspiciousness, supreme splendour, and divine energy (Śakti).
- Mahā (महा): Great, infinite, transcendent.
- Rājñī (राज्ञी): Sovereign Queen or Empress.
While earthly rulers govern limited physical territories for brief moments in time, Śrī-Mahārājñī is the absolute Empress over the gross (Sthūla), subtle (Sūkṣma), and causal (Kāraṇa) realms. She directs the motion of stars, the rhythms of nature, and the continuous unfolding of karmic cycles.
2. Inner Contemplation for Sādhana
- Surrender of Personal Control: Recognizing Her supreme sovereignty frees us from the anxiety of trying to control every external outcome. When personal effort is aligned with Her cosmic order (Dharma), peace naturally follows.
- Inner Order & Discipline: An empress maintains absolute harmony within her domain. In personal sādhana, honoring Śrī-Mahārājñī means establishing self-mastery over the senses (Indriyas) and steadying the turbulent mind (Manas).
She rules not through fear, but through the flawless harmony of Her cosmic will—inviting every seeker to find sanctuary within Her kingdom.
